Sunshine on the Soul

How did everyone’s week go? Did we all survive so we can enjoy the weekend? I survived but no luck yet in the job department. I am still marching ahead though! 🙂
I have no idea what it is like where everyone lives but the last two days at my house have been WONDERFUL! It has been high seventies-low eighties and the warmth just melts my heart. I have been enjoying midday mini-naps on the hammock with the dog but I have to start worrying about sunscreen. A burnt face is no one’s idea of a happy day.
In honor of the rousing burst of sunshine on my soul; I guess it means I have to go shopping right? So here you go . . . this is what I need in order to enjoy a perfect day outside.
1. Sandals of course. I just had a pedicure a couple of days ago and now I need to show off my bright neon pink toes! I think I should go for this sandal or if an evening out is in order, I definitely needs this pair
2. Next on the list of course has to include an awesome sun dress. What is summer for but to enjoy long flowy comfort wear? 🙂 So how about this dress or this whole ensemble
3. So this is what I am doing to my hair at my next appointment because I am ready for my hair to look summery and not so business
4. If I am going to go to all the trouble to look good outside than I might as well go ahead and just get ready outside as well. This is actually a dream of mine to have an outdoor bathtub and shower. Sounds weird right? After living in Hawaii and using them; there is no going back. I just need to live in a climate conducive to the habit
5. Finally, we should all enjoy a meal full of outdoor flavor. Tacos are always a hit or this Salad
Get out there and enjoy the sun! 

Spring Cleaning

I am going to stop making excuses for myself and my life which means, I am not going to apologize for the tardiness of this post . . .
(But secretly . . . I am being held hostage in my house. I have been kidnapped and turned into a cleaning slave by my mother . . . someone please rescue me) 🙂
So on to the post . . . I guess it would behoove me to post about cleaning tactics.
1. First and foremost; don’t wait a number of years to clean your carpet. Something will always be getting it dirty so just except the fact that you will see your carpet cleaning company on a yearly basis and budget it in. We just used this company and they did a FANTASTIC job!
2. Guess what happens to your house as the year progresses; it gets dusty in all of the places that you don’t readily see. Move the furniture and wash the walls. You will have less allergy related problems if you do! 🙂
3. We found this article to clean the soap scum in the bathroom and it worked so well!
4. We got this vacuum to help us clean the stairs but it has been wonderful and we have clean base boards, and curtains!
5. I don’t wear gloves when I clean and I probably should but this hand cream has been saving my hands from being ultimate nightmares.

Hello Spring!

Although I did have snow at my house yesterday it has melted and the sky is blue and the birds are chirping. I guess we can say that spring has sprung.
Today I have been working on a weekend menu but instead of nailing things down so I can get to the grocery store; I have decided to peruse the internet in between my painting assignment. I am helping my parents paint their bedroom which is fine but I am the one that gets to do all of the floor work or intricate touch-up work. (I actually have rug burns on my knees and legs). Love you too mom!!
So I am going to keep this simple since I have to leave in about 30 minutes and drive two hours away and won’t be home until after midnight. Here is some of my favorite things for this Easter weekend and by the way . . .
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
1. This is a sandwich that I really want to try this weekend. For some reason it just screams spring to me. You can find it on skinnytaste.com 
2. If I decide to make anything traditional this weekend (probably won’t since we had Easter dinner last weekend while everyone was in town), I think I would have to serve the meat on this.
3. I promised my father that I would make him some sort of lemon dessert and since I am not his English grandmother I can’t fully promise a lemon tart but here are the two choices in the running.
 4. I might put up a bunny picture or two just because.
5. Last but not least; a new dress might be in order. Aren’t we always suppose to get a new Easter dress?! 🙂  

Valentine’s Day

So no one need recognize that is Saturday and not Friday. We are going to pretend that yesterday didn’t escape me!  🙂
So moving on . . . Did everyone realize that it is Valentine’s Day today?!
I actually like the holiday.
I like seeing men pick out flowers and look bewildered while doing it (case in point this morning at Sam’s club) and also asking other women standing around in a salon what they would like if they were getting a spa gift card (also happened today while I was getting my eyebrows waxed).
By way of announcement . . . I am not making fun of these men. I really truly love that they think today is important enough to be out and about early picking out things for their loved one. The only thing I want to do is run a website that functions like Pinterest but automatically emails the husband or boyfriend the updates of things that their woman likes and where to get it so that they don’t look so bewildered. It would be sweet justice for all.
So I think I should list the top 5 things I would want this Valentine’s Day. Anyone else care to join me?
1.       I am a SUCKER for flowers especially my most favorite flowers which are black tulips but these are my very close second runner ups.
2.       I am not a huge fan of chocolates but if I could have one of these chocolate peanut butter shakes from Moonstruck Chocolates I would be totally happy and yes, that is the world’s best chocolate peanut butter shake.    
3.       I think taking a walk here would be wonderful
4.       And I think the best saying on loving the right person is: and so the adventure beings.
5.       I would wear these for a night of dancing and no, I don’t mean clubbing. There is a difference. Got to act insane on this day once in awhile.
