Gift Giving

As a kid it was VERY easy for me to come up with a list of things I wanted for Christmas. Some years my list was a couple of pages long. I remember pouring over the toy section of the Sears Catalog and turning down all the pages of the items that I just knew I had to have. As an adult, I prefer to give gifts then receive them because the real gift for me now is to know that others are happy but even with that being said, it is nice to see something under the tree with your name on it.

The older I get the more I want to give gifts that are experiences and not things but an envelope with tickets isn’t the same as the actual wrapped box under the tree. Over the years I have also noticed a structure for what gifts to purchase so that overbuying doesn’t ensue. So here is the structure and my list should anyone be buying anything for me this year.

  1. Something I want to Read . . . Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
  2. Something I Need . . . Crock-pot (okay I have a Crock-pot but it is really small, I really need a normal size one)
  3. Something I want to Wear . . . Oxford Heels (aren’t they so cute?!!!)
  4. Something I Want . . . Air Purifier (I live in Oregon with mold people . . . enough said)
  5. Something to Eat . . . Salted Caramels (yes, please!)

Products I Love

This morning I started thinking about some of the products that I use and love and I decided that I would share them with the world in the hopes that you might love them as well. It is a random list but . . .

  1. Sprayology Homeopathic & Vitamin Oral Sprays: I was skeptical at first but now I am sold. I use the AllergEase and PMS Support and they really do what they say they do!
  2. Caleb Treeze Organic Farm Stop Leg & Foot Cramps: It really does stop them in a minute or less. For some reason I tend to get foot cramps in the middle of the night and this is the quickest way I can get back to sleep.
  3. Munchkin Bottle Basket: I take breakfast and lunch with me every day to the office and that requires a lot of containers and some of them small. I was tired of putting little lids in the dishwasher just to have them flip out in the cycle and burn at the bottom. This has been a lifesaver!
  4. Vanity Mark Ultra Brow Powder and Brush: Since I started coloring my hair dark I have had to start coloring my eyebrows as well. This is the quickest, easiest way to color and fill in your brows.
  5. Rubber & Mini Bobby Pins: Seriously, I am not sure what took so long to start manufacturing small and rubberized bobby pins. The stay locked in place. They don’t dig into your scalp and they are hidden without having to have an up-do. Hallelujah!

A Little Help

I’ll admit it. I am one of those people who reads self-help books and watches self-help videos. I don’t always take what is being said at face-value but I use it as a catalyst, a jumping-off point for my thoughts. For instance, when I read Thrive by Arianna Huffington, I realized that I needed to be more adamant about the sleep I needed. I didn’t ever think about saying no to people purely for the reason that I needed to go to bed.

I feel like we are all here to help other humans survive and thrive as well and that works best when we share our experiences and others can take the information and put it in the context that works best for them. So below are 5 books or videos that I have read/watched recently that helped me think about various goals that I am working on right now in my life.

  1. Marie Forleo: Here is a great video to introduce you to her.
  2. Tony Robbins: I don’t think much introduction is needed for him but here is a great video of him.
  3. Arianna Huffington: I really liked her book.
  4. Andie Mitchell: She really knows how to say things in her book.
  5. Stephen Covey: A true pioneer in this area of thought.

It’s A Girl

How lucky am I to be an aunt again?! My sister just had her first baby and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her. So to honor the newest addition to the extended family, here are the items I think the baby would be thrilled to have.

  1. Princess Coach Iron Crib from Posh Tots
  2. Burberry Trench Coat Dress from Harrods of London
  3. Red Beard’s Revenge Pirate Ship Playhouse from Posh Tots
  4. Washable & Squashable Travel High Chair from Tot Seat
  5. The Baby Bean Bag from BayB Brand

I have to admit; I would really like some of these even though some are a bit over the top. Enjoy the new baby!
