One of the Lucky Ones

Today I was thinking a lot about animals. My sister’s cat has come to live with me and he is getting older. He isn’t doing as well as he should but I am doing everything I can to make him comfortable and enjoy life. I haven’t had another pet in my care for a while because I was heartbroken over the loss of my dog a few years back. With the passing of time and the fact that our animals do not live as long as we do, I sometimes question if I want another animal. That thought comes and goes rapidly because I love the way I feel when animals are me and I want them in my home.

So in honor of them–here are 5 quotes and pictures that I just love.

Evolving Music

I read a quick article last week by Stacker titled, 50 Ways Music has Changed in the Last 50 Years. It was interesting to me what has evolved over the years that I have been alive and decided to share with you some music that I like based on some of the 50 ways. See if you can figure out which song goes to which way.

What do you think about the evolution of music?

The Bright Spot in the Desert

Vegas . . .when you say that it conjures up images of casinos, clubs and gambling. For a good reason . . .those things are aplenty in this desert town but there is a normal life that goes on off the Strip.

I was in Vegas recently for work and while I did stay on the Strip and enjoyed the entertainment of it; I was also lucky enough to have friends that took me away and offered me the enjoyment of the area in general.

Here are 5 things that I enjoy in Las Vegas. Have you spent time there? What do you enjoy?

  1. Armagosa Trail
  2. Springs Preserve
  3. Valley of Fire
  4. Hoover Dam
  5. Green Valley Ranch

A New Skill to Learn

One of my goals this year is to learn a new cooking style or to cook with an ingredient I have never used before. So this post is part one: new cooking style.

After having wonderful Dim Sum while in Vegas last week, I have decided that I want to tackle this technique head on and make it for myself at home. This is going to require me purchasing a few items for the kitchen (don’t mind if I do). Haha!

Here are 5 recipes I am hoping to use to as I work on learning this new style. What is a cooking style you have been wanting to try?
