I got an Air Fryer for Christmas and I have absolutely no idea how to use it or what to make in it. So I am resolutely using it this week. Now I am looking for recipes to get me started. Here are a few that I found.

Does anyone else have an air fryer? Do you like (love) it? What are some things that you like to make in it?

  1. Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Shrimp
  2. Air Fryer Salmon
  3. Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
  4. Air Fryer Sesame Chicken Breasts
  5. Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Happiness Goals

Happiness goals . . . seems like a lofty take on new year resolutions. But you know what–happiness goals are light-years ahead of regular resolutions. These kind of goals force you to take a look at your inside health and not make resolutions for the benefit of everyone else, but for you. Back in 2018, I heard a podcast by Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, about 18 happiness goals for 2018. Something resonated within me and I decided to create my own 18 goals. I did pretty good that year and accomplished most of my goals. For 2019 I decided to do it again. I created 19 happiness goals for 2019. Gretchen Rubin did the same. You can listen to the podcast here as she evaluates her goals for 2019.

I accomplished almost all of my goals and the ones that weren’t accomplished, I did make it halfway. I type up my goals at the beginning of the year and then post them in my kitchen so I can see them everyday and monitor my progress. Some of my goals are quick and some are spread out of the course of the year. For instance, I made the goal to only use my reusable shopping bags throughout the year but another goal was to purchase a new blender. Both goals brought me happiness but both had very different time frames.

My goals might not make sense to you and that is okay. These goals are for me and my happiness. So yes, I am currently working on my list for 20 in 2020. One thing it will include is some new lens for my camera. That is something I think about all the time but never sit down and accomplish. It would feel great to get them and start using them so I can continue to learn and grow as an amateur photographer.

Our lives are not meant to be stagnant. We should always be growing and learning. That is how we become the people we are meant to be. That is how we become us. So let me ask you . . . What are your happiness goals?

Let’s End The Season Calmly

In general I keep all the things stressing me out, inside. This does the world a lot of good but it damages me. I vow to figure out how to stay calm inside going into the new year. But 2019 was FULL of extremely stressful moments for me and that pattern kept up to the very bitter end of the year. So in an effort to not lose myself, I went away for a couple of days to reconnect with the ocean and then spent the Christmas holiday in a cabin doing absolutely nothing but hibernating (sleeping, movie watching, eating, and endless walking in nature).

I have no idea what 2020 will bring me. I have figured out the things that I do and do not want to bring with me into the new year and I am hopeful. I am hopeful that my future will only get better. Maybe this new year will bring life-changing events, maybe it won’t. I just know that this time around, I am going to do it calmer then 2019.

In the meantime, I wanted Christmas music while I was gone that was calm and here are 5 songs that helped me achieve that.

I wish everyone a VERY Happy New Year and all the luck in the world that all of your hopes and dreams will materialize.

The Magic of Vancouver Island

If you have never been to Vancouver Island, you REALLY are missing out. It is a large island meant for exploring and connecting. The cities and towns that dot the island are unique. The locals are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The shopping is fun and kitschy. The food is a mixture of British fare/PNW flavors/Asian influence. But if that wasn’t enough–the scenery and wildlife is BREATHTAKING. I guess what I am saying is . . . GO ALREADY!!

I find my way on the island at least once a year and whenever I take someone new with me, I always have them hooked for life. So here are 5 things that I suggest doing while you are on the island.

  1. Esquimalt Lagoon
  2. Chinatown
  3. Coombs Old Country Market
  4. Cathedral Grove
  5. Seaplane Tours
